It seems Japan's minister for the Olympics, Seiko Hashimoto, is planning to let Japanese fans fly the so-called Rising Sun flag at next year's Games in Tokyo.
It's a symbol of Japanese imperialism deeply offensive to people throughout Asia.
In a press briefing Saturday, Hashimoto said the flag is not political propaganda, which the International Olympic Committee has said would not be allowed.
South Korea has urged Japan not to allow the Rising Sun flag to be flown at the Olympics, saying it's wrong to use sporting events for political messages.
