NEW DELHI — A 32-year-old guy went to some hilarious—albeit unsuccessful—lengths when he disguised himself as an 81-year-old man to board a flight to the U.S.
Police say Jayesh Patel was trying to get to the Big Apple in hopes of finding work, so he hired an agent who hooked him up with a fake passport—of a person 50 years older.
Enter the makeup artist who Patel met at a hotel room in Delhi where his beard and hair were dyed white.
According to NDTV, he was given thick glasses, a turban and a white tunic and a wheelchair to top it all off.
According to CNN, at around 10:45 p.m. on September 8, Patel went to the Indira Gandhi International Airport to try and board an overnight flight to New York.
He actually made it past the initial security check and got his immigration cleared.
Then Patel's plan hit some turbulence after airport authorities started to notice things like his white beard having black roots, or the fact the his skin didn't look old or have any wrinkles.
Upon further questioning from Central Industrial Security Force officials, he cracked and admitted he was 32-year-old Jayesh Patel.
He was detained by security for holding a fake passport and handed over to immigration. A senior CISF official told CNN she was unaware of the current status of the case.
