The origin of the word chaat probably comes in connection to the taste and sensation of chapatti which can be best described as salty, sweet and tangy in most savory snacks and foods. There are different kinds of chaat in India, and one which is quite famous among them is Palak Chaat, which is made out of Spinach and other chaat ingredients like Green Chutney, Sev, Sweet Chutney.
Ingredients:
(Serves 4)
- 1/2 cup Gram Flour
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
-1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- Carom Seeds
- Coriander Leaves(chopped)
- Spinach Leaves
- Oil
- Sweetened Curd
- Green Chutney
- Tamarind Chutney
- Sev
- Ginger Juliennes
Method:
1. Take gram flour, cornflour, salt, red chilli powder, carom seeds, chopped coriander leaves in a medium-sized bowl and mix it well
2. Now, add water to make the batter
3. Take Spinach leaves which have been cleansed and dried
4. Dip the leaves into the batter. Drop it to the pan of hot oil and fry it
5. Take the spinach fritters out in a plate and assemble it properly
6. Now, top these spinach fritters with sweetened curd, green chutney, tamarind chutney, sev, ginger juliennes, coriander leaves, and some red chilli powder
