Fluvial parade kicks off in Bocaue

MANILA - The town of Bocaue marked the return of a yearly tradition with the fluvial parade on Sunday, 21 years after tragedy struck when the floating pagoda sank, killing more than 200 people. Led by a three-storey pagoda with boats in various types and sizes following behind, the town resumed the tradition years after the 1993 tragedy. Present at the celebration are locals, who sprayed water at each other, and tourists seen carrying umbrellas under the sun. Firefighters also joined the event, occasionally hosing the boats that are taking part with the procession. Later Sunday, the cross at the center of the "Kapistahan ng Krus sa Wawa" shall be brought down to where it was believed to have been found back in the 1800s. This Sunday shall be the first time the town of Bocaue have celebrated the fluvial parade since the 1993 tragedy.
