MANILA, Philippines – Brazil's national football team was welcomed by a swarm of protesting teachers as the team arrived to begin training for the World Cup. Star striker Neymar of Barcelona was among the first to arrive, along with Fred, David Luiz, and Toronto FC goal-keeper Julio Cesar. They were greeted by nearly 200 striking teachers and those sympathetic to their cause, who chanted slogans and sang protest songs, condemning the costs associated with hosting the World Cup. They are also demanding more spending on education and healthcare. The World Cup begins on June 12, and this protest could just be the beginning of more rallies in the host nation. -- Mornings @ ANC, May 27, 2014.
