MANILA – The Pasig River ferry system formally re-opened Monday after being suspended for about three years. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said commuters can ride the ferry for free during the first week of its operations. Each boat can hold 30 passengers. The MMDA said the ferry system's operation for today will be limited. The ferry system's normal schedule runs from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., but in view of the arrival of United States President Barack Obama, it will only have its morning operations today. The MMDA said the ferry system runs on three routes: Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City to Guadalupe, Makati City; from Guadalupe to Escolta, Manila; Guadalupe to Plaza Mexico via Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) campus in Sta. Mesa, Manila. Trips for today, however, will only run from Guadalupe to Pinagbuhatan, and vice versa. – report from Carolyn Bonquin, ABS-CBN News
