A scuffle erupted in Mendiola between alleged members of the leftist National Democratic Front (NDF) and Muslims celebrating the signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB). About 100 people believed to be CPP-NPA-NDF supporters and Kabataang Makabayan members arrived from the Bustillos Market. They mounted a program at the corner of Recto and Legarda right across the site where the Muslims were reading from the Koran as part of events to mark the signing of the peace pact. The noise and disruption caused by the militants sparked an angry exchange between the two groups, culminating in a confrontation.
