MANILA, Philippines – Transport groups plan to hold a nationwide demonstration on Monday to pressure the government to approve their 50-centavo fare hike. The jeepney drivers also say they will implement the hike even without their approval. Some of the reasons drivers want a hike include the high price of fuel, and the expected dip in income due to fewer commuters this summer.
