MANILA - Police in Central Luzon called for an anti-hijacking summit following an increase in hijackings in Region 3 last year, a radio DZMM report said Thursday. Chief Superintendent Raul Petrasanta, Central Luzon police chief, said police recorded a total of 32 hijacking incidents in 2013. Most of the incidents were recorded in Bulacan and Pampanga, he said. Petrasanta said businessmen are calling for the revival of pass cards to all drivers of cargo trucks plying various routes and main highways in the region. Authorities will also put up 140 checkpoints in Central Luzon. Police will also identify areas where truck drivers can park their cargo to rest. RADIO DZMM, February 27, 2014
