MANILA - Public Works Secretary Rogelio Singson on Tuesday inspected bunkhouses being constructed in Yolanda-ravaged Tacloban City, Leyte. This, following reports that some of the units are overpriced and substandard. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Singson again denied the allegations. The DPWH chief on Monday offered to resign if it is proven true that the temporary shelters being built for the typhoon survivors are overpriced. He conceded, however, that some of the structures might be "under specifications" -- meaning that contractors did not build the structures according to specifications provided by the DPWH. Meanwhile, after the inspection, Singson held a meeting with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Dinky Soliman and officials of local government units (LGUs) to discuss the number of bunkhouses that still need to be constructed in areas affected by super typhoon "Yolanda." However, Tacloban Mayor Alfred Romualdez was not seen in the meeting, ABS-CBN News correspondent Geron Ponferrada reported. Tacloban was among the worst hit areas of the typhoon, which struck the country last November 8.
