MANILA - Philippine National Police chief Alan Purisima is backing mandatory drug testing for criminal suspects to see if they are using illegal drugs. In a press briefing, Purisima said suspects who are being charged with a crime should undergo mandatory drug testing to see if the crime was done under the influence of drugs. "If they are going to be booked, they are suspects. Sana may mandatory requirements na i-check yung kanilang health conditions and that they should undergo drug tests and liquor tests. Dapat fingerprint, photo and DNA sana so we can have a database of people who have been arrested for something," he said. Meanwhile, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Arturo Cacdac Jr. said there are an estimated 1.3 million drug users in the country. ANC, December 26, 2013
