MANILA – The Philippines’ bet to the 2013 Miss Earth pageant, Angelee Delos Reyes, picked a topic related to super typhoon "Yolanda" for the question and answer segment of the beauty competition. Delos Reyes, who got the loudest cheers from the predominantly Filipino audience during the finals night, was asked: "A month after Yolanda struck the country, how do you think Mother Earth feels now?" The 26-year-old Filipina beauty queen replied: “It feels like Mother Earth is really sad. I actually wrote a song about the environmental problems that we have now. But I think typhoon Yolanda happened not just for us to be devastated -- the Philippines and other countries.” “It’s a wake-up call for all of us to realize that we must take care of one another and we must take care of our Earth so that our Earth or our environment will take care of us in return. Let’s save our Earth together not just for the people of today but for the generations to come,” she added. The Philippines finished in the Top 8 on Saturday night, alongside the delegates of Austria, Mexico, Korea, Thailand, Venezuela, Serbia and Poland. Venezuela's candidate to the 2013 Miss Earth pageant, Alyz Henrich, was crowned the title winner.
