'It: Chapter 2' Looking at
$110 Million Box Office Opening.
According to 'Variety,' early projections
have the sequel making anywhere from
$95 to $110 million in its first weekend.
By comparison, the first film in 2017 recorded a $123 million debut.
The adaptation of the Stephen King novel went on
to gross $700 million worldwide, making it the
most successful horror movie ever.
'Chapter 2' is set 27 years after the first movie and features the return of Bill Skarsgard as
the murderous Pennywise.
The film also stars adult members of the
'Losers Club,' which includes James McAvoy,
Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader.
The first movie's director,
Andy Muschietti, also returned
to helm the sequel.
'It: Chapter 2' hits theaters
nationwide on September 6
