MANILA - Performance and trust ratings of President Aquino may have increased in the last quarter, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey, but not all respondents gave Aquino a higher grade. Ana Maria Tabunda, Pulse Asia chief research fellow, said fewer respondents from Balance Luzon said they approved o Aquino's performance in the past quarter. The President's approval rating dropped from 74% in March 2013 to 68% in the latest Pulse Survey. His approval rating also dropped from 68% in March to 67% in June among NCR respondents. Asked what NCR and Luzon respondents want from Aquino, Tabunda said: "If you gauge or look at their concerns, it is really because of the prices, inflation and jobs. Those are the issues that they said they want the President to discuss in the SONA." Seventy-seven percent of Filipinos trust President Aquino while 73% approve of his performance, the latest Pulse Asia survey showed. The survey, conducted last June 20 to July 4, showed that 5% of Filipinos had little to no trust for Aquino while 17% are undecided. Aquino's new trust rating is 5 percentage points higher than his 72% rating in March. The President obtained higher scores from Visayas and Mindanao than in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon. A total of 1,200 respondents participated in the Pulse Asia survey. Among the key development during the survey period were the proposal to give the US temporary access to the country's military bases, the sex-for-flight scandal, the Serendra blast, the resignation of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and the execution of a Filipina drug mule in China.
