MANILA, Philippines – Rafael Nadal tore up the record books by winning his eighth French Open trophy with a straight sets win over David Ferrer. Nadal made light work of his fellow Spaniard to a 6-3, 6-2, and 6-3 win in Paris. Play was halted briefly in the sixth game of the second set when a man wearing a white mask leapt over from the stands and ran towards Nadal while lighting up an orange flare. The protester ran around waving the flare before he and another bare-chested accomplice were bundled away by security staff. The incident failed to derail Nadal, who prevailed after two hours and 16 minutes in the one-sided final. -- Mornings @ ANC, June 10, 2013
