Most of the candidates from sports background have lost in the elections but some of them have won. Cricketer Gautam Gambhir who recently joined BJP won from East Delhi. Boxer Vijendra Singh got the ticket from Congress to contest from South Delhi, but he lost. Shooter Rajyavardhan Singh Rathod of BJP won from Jaipur Gramin. Footballer Kalyan Chaubey of BJP lost from Krishna Nagar, West Bengal. Athlete Krishna Punia of Congress lost from Jaipur Gramin. Cricketer Keerti Azad of Congress lost from Dhanbad, Jharkhand. Footballer Prasoon Bannerjee of TMC won from Howrah, West Bengal.
