Wall Street closed little changed on Wednesday as a sharp decline in bond yields stabilized to temper worries over slowing economic growth.
The S&P 500 recovered from steep early losses to end slightly higher by less than point-1 percent, the Nasdaq Composite finished point-4 percent higher and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell roughly one-tenths of a percent.
South Korean shares fell for a sixth straight session on Wednesday, as worries over U.S., China trade war persisted, but the losses were capped by China's move to stabilize the yuan.
The benchmark KOSPI closed down point-4 percent at 19-09-point-7.
The tech-heavy KOSDAQ
Oil prices extended already sharp declines after an unexpected build in U.S. stockpiles, its first in eight weeks, added selling pressure to concerns over a global slowdown.
U.S. benchmark WTI slumped nearly 4-percent to 51-62 a barrel while the London-traded Brent crude futures sank 3-point-2 percent to 57-03 a barrel.
