It has emerged Japan returned South Korean court ruling documents to Seoul last month rather than forwarding them to Nippon Steel,... the Japanese company ordered to pay compensation for its wartime forced labor of Koreans.
Legal representatives for the victims said Tuesday that Tokyo's Foreign Ministry returned the papers, which had been sent in January.
They contained a Seoul court's decision to seize assets belonging to P-N-R, a joint-venture between Nippon Steel and local steelmaker POSCO,… to compensate the victims.
The representatives said Tokyo didn't explain why it returned the documents instead of forwarding them to Nippon Steel.
They added Japan's behavior is a clear violation of the Hague Conventions, which requires a legitimate explanation when court rulings aren't delivered.
