The government will take into account all criticisms raised following the first reading of the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) Bill 2019, according to de facto Law Minister Liew Vui Keong.
Liew said this is because there are still a few months remaining before the bill, which was tabled for first reading on July 18, will proceed to its second and third readings in the next Parliament session.
He clarified today that the IPCMC is empowered to investigate disciplinary misconduct, but any element of corruption or criminal offence will be dealt with concurrently by the relevant authorities.
