Michael Thomas Agrees to Record-Breaking Extension With Saints Thomas and the New Orleans Saints have agreed
to a five-year, $100 million extension. The $61 million guaranteed is the most
for a non-quarterback offensive player
in NFL history, according to ESPN. Thomas was set to make $1.148 million this season
in the final year of his rookie contract. He was a holdout for the start of Saints
training camp while seeking a new deal. Thomas led the NFL with 125 catches for
1,405 yards and nine touchdowns last season. His 321 career catches are the most in NFL history
by a player over his first three seasons. Thomas was drafted by the Saints in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the 47th overall pick.
