Five days after North Korea's short-range missile launch, the U.S. has sanctioned a North Korean man based in Vietnam.
On Monday, the Treasury Department sanctioned Kim Su-il for violating UN Security Council resolutions and supporting the North's missile program.
It said, Kim, as an employee at the North's Munitions Industry Department, traded goods between North Korea and Vietnam to help the regime earn foreign currency.
His U.S.-based assets will be blocked, if he has any.
Instead of taking direct aim at North Korea, the U.S. has been sanctioning other parties helping the regime.
The last time the U.S. sanctioned an actual North Korean official was in December.
