At the residence of 10 Downing Street in London,... one key cabinet member serves the British Prime Minister by kicking out mice.
Our Park Hee-jun has the details on Larry,... the 'Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office'. As Britain's new Prime Minister Boris Johnson gets used to his new surroundings at Number 10 Downing Street,... he'll not only have to impress his cabinet,... but also a white and brown tabby cat.
That will be Larry,... the 12th 'chief mouser' to the Cabinet Office.
There's been a cat at the residence for centuries,... but Larry was the first one to be officially appointed in 2011.
Having been rescued from an animal shelter,... he has outlasted two former prime ministers David Cameron and Theresa May.
His responsibilities range from greeting guests to "testing antique furniture for napping quality.”
But he's been rather disinterested toward his most important task,... kicking out mice and insects from the residence.
He was almost fired by Cameron for his laziness,... failing to spot a mouse and then doing nothing when he found one.
Nevertheless he enjoys his fame.
His unofficial Twitter account has over 300-thousand followers, and he is also popular on television.
But his residency may be on the line.
Prime Minister Johnson reportedly told the No. 10 staff that he's looking to bring a dog on board.
Following a reshuffle at the cabinet, there is a possibility Larry could be replaced by the prime ministerial dog.
Johnson could also choose to find a dog that can get along with Larry.
But the chief mouser doesn't seem to like the idea,... tweeting "HELL NO" to the news.
