Riot police clashed with protesters in the streets of Hong Kong on Sunday (July 21).

Footage shows police officers forcing a crowd of demonstrators into retreat.

Protesters can be seen throwing rocks and other items towards police before officers respond by firing tear gas and rubber bullets.

The violent clashes happened during a rally against a China extradition bill - now suspended but which protesters fear could be revived - which drew tens of thousands of protesters to the streets.
