The annual Bastille Day celebration in France became a showcase for European defense cooperation on Sunday as the flags of ten European countries that are in a joint military pact created last year, led the parade.
The leaders of Germany, Portugal, the Netherlands and Finland took part in the ceremony that highlighted new military technology that included a jet-powered flyboard.
In his message during the parade, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance of European defense cooperation to boost security in Europe.
Meanwhile, some anti-Macron yellow vest protesters were seen demonstrating on the sidelines of the parade.
