The United Nations Command has made it clear that it has not offered, nor has Japan requested a Sending State designation.
The UN Command stated that some news reports about Japan allegedly being considered as a potential Sending State that can be militarily involved in case of a military conflict on the Korean Peninsula... are "flagrantly false".
It added that the UNC continues to work closely with the members of the South Korean government on all aspects of the UNC organizational structure.
Commander General Robert Abrams said the UN Command strives to work effectively and transparently with its participating member states and South Korea.
