日정부 "화해치유재단 해산, 수용 못한다" 입장 거듭 밝혀

Tokyo "absolutely cannot accept" Seoul's decision to dissolve a foundation set up to help victims of Japan's wartime sex crimes.
That's coming from the country's deputy chief cabinet secretary Yasutoshi Nishimura, who pointed out... the dissolution of the Reconciliation and Healing Foundation is a serious problem.
The foundation was set up under a 2015 deal in which the two sides agreed to resolve Japan's sex slavery issue once and for all... and financially support the victims who are all in their twilight years.
However, there was growing criticism as it was not set up with the victims' consent.
According to Nishimura, Tokyo's view was conveyed strongly to the South Korean embassy this morning, and that it urged Seoul to abide by the agreement.
South Korea's foreign ministry is looking for an appropriate solution that reflects the needs of the victims and related organizations,... and will discuss the matter with Japan as it does so.
