유엔 보고관 "대북 식량지원 환영…北인권은 여전히 심각"
A UN expert on human rights issues in North Korea... praised Seoul's recent moves to provide humanitarian aid to Pyeongyang... and called for more international efforts to ease food shortages in the North.
"We discussed the importance of the peace process of the inter-Korean negotiations, and I reiterated the need to bring North Korean human rights concerns to the negotiations framework. I welcome the decision to release to North Korea the pledged humanitarian aid, which should never be subject to politicization."
Tomas Ojea Quintana is referring to South Korea's decision earlier this week to provide 50-thousand tons of rice via the WFP... on top of an 8-million U.S. dollar contribution made to the UN for humanitarian assistance last month.
Quintana is visiting Seoul this week, his sixth mission here.
