장성화 주제네바 대표부 1등서기관, WTO TBT위원회 의장 선출
A South Korean has been elected to a key post at the World Trade Organization.
That's Jang Sung-wha, who is Seoul's representative at its mission to the WTO in Geneva.
According to the foreign ministry, he'll be chairing the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade until next year.
That committee seeks to provide member states with information on other countries' regulations on standards and certification.
Rising protectionism has led to greater regulation of technology, so the ministry said it hopes Jang's appointment will lead to greater implementation of technology regulation agreements.
