November 12th, 2011. "The 25th Round Begins" was the 3rd bout between two warriors in Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez to end their feud by finally crowning a winner in one of the most anticipated bouts of 2011. Both fighters have met twice in 2004 and 2008, twice with disputed outcomes.

Pacquiao also makes the 3rd defense of his WBO Welterweight Title in this fight. He had previously defended it twice against Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey.

Prefight records; Pacquiao 53(38)-8-2, Marquez 53(39)-5-1.

This is the 3rd weight division in which they have fought each other in. Both fought for the first time in 2004 as Featherweights and Super Featherweights 4 years later in a rematch. This time, both competed as Welterweights.

Going into the fight, Pacquiao held notable wins over the likes of Chatchai Sasakul, Jorge Eliecer Julio, Lehlo Ledwaba, Jorge Solis, Oscar Larios, Hector Velazquez, David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Ricky Hatton, Joshua Clottey, Antonio Margarito, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Erik Morales (2x) & Marco Antonio Barrera (2x).

On the other hand Marquez had victories over top oppositions such as Alfred Kotey, Agapito Sanchez, Daniel Jimenez, Manuel Medina, Robbie Peden, Derrick Gainer, Victor Polo, Michael Katsidis, Rocky Juarez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Joel Casamayor, Orlando Salido & Juan Diaz (2x).

Remarkably, both fighters once again engaged in a grueling action packed fight with no knockdowns this time but both had just about equal share of great moments with many close rounds that could arguably be scored either way. After 36 minutes of an all out war, Pacquiao emerged as an MD winner in yet another highly disputed decision as some believed Marquez deserved the nod.

Both have fought 3 times, and 3 times the boxing world had debated (and still debating!) about the outcome of their first 3 bouts. Because of that, there’s demand for a 4th bout due to the fact that their rivalry will not come to an end until a winner is crowned with no room for disputes.

1 year later, Pacquiao & Marquez would face each other for the final time and as expected, both fighters fought with their hearts and souls; giving their all to determine a true winner of their series of fights.
