Acting U.S. Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan said he has full confidence in the ability to negotiate the final, full and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
But, he added... North Korea remains an "extraordinary threat"... that requires continued vigilance.
Shanahan,... who is in Singapore for the Shangri-La Dialogue... said Saturday... that he viewed North Korea's recent missile tests... as a violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
Shanahan added he's ready even if diplomacy fails... saying the U.S. has the "appropriate readiness" in cooperation with South Korea and Japan.
