Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joseph Dunford, has said the scaling down of the South Korea-U.S. joint military drills has not compromised the ability of U.S Forces Korea to (quote) "fight tonight."
Speaking at the Brookings Institution on Wednesday,... Dunford said,.... there had been no change to readiness at "squadron and battalion level," although the allies have cut back on the exercises to "support the diplomatic track" on improving ties with North Korea.
Dunford added that the forces are also supporting the diplomatic track by disrupting ship-to-ship transfers of petroleum products which are inconsistent with UN Security council resolutions.
