The World Health Organization decided to classify gaming addiction as a mental health disorder, sparking some controversy in Korea, an e-sports powerhouse.
Seoul's Prime Minister said the goverment will hold thorough discussions to find the best way to establish a sound gaming culture while at the same time developing the industry.
Lee Nak-yon acknowledged that there were conflicting views between the gaming and medical industries on the WHO's decision.
But he said those in public service should refrain from making comments that can cause concerns when speaking out about measures that haven't been decided on.
