The U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee has authorized a 750-billion dollar defense budget... that blocks any significant reduction of U.S. forces in South Korea.
The bill states... at least 28-and-a-half thousand troops must be kept on the Peninsula... due to what it calls "continued threats" from North Korea.
That's six-and-a-half thousand more troops... compared to last year's bill.
The move is seen as a way of preventing President Trump from pulling American soldiers out of South Korea,... which he has repeatedly threatened to do... over defense cost-sharing issues.
