Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government will study calls for the formation of a truth and reconciliation commission in relation to the May 13, 1969 incident.

Mahathir was responding to a question about the possibility of setting up a truth and reconciliation commission, similar to South Africa which sought to move forward from the apartheid.

He was also asked about whether the complete documentation on the race riots would be released.
