Keepers at ZSL London Zoo welcomed a newborn baby sloth on April 30, and shared footage on Friday, May 10, of the youngster eating steamed carrots for the first time. The two-toed sloth, named Elio, was born after an near-year-long pregnancy for its mother Marilyn, the zoo said. The zoo’s sloth keeper Steve Goodwin said: “Sloths have a long gestation period so the infants are already physically well-developed when they’re born. Incredibly, this means they are able to eat solid food right away.”
