NSSO says 36% of companies that are part of MCA21 database could not be traced or were wrongly classified

A fresh news report is poking holes at government's method of GDP calculation. Mint reports that the database used by the government called MCA21 has some major loopholes. The report points to a study conducted by the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) in the 12 months leading up to June 2017. It has found that as much as 36 percent of companies that are part of MCA21 database could not be traced or were wrongly classified. CNBC-TV18 spoke with Pramit Bhattacharya from Mint to discuss the report.
