President Trump reacted to reports of a North Korea weapon test.
President Trump has affirmed his support for North Korean leader Kim Jong-un amid reports that the regime has test fired short-range projectiles.
"Anything in this very interesting world is possible, but I believe that Kim Jong Un fully realizes the great economic potential of North Korea, & will do nothing to interfere or end it," Trump tweeted Saturday. "He also knows that I am with him & does not want to break his promise to me. Deal will happen!"
According to the New York Times, North Korea's tests are "likely to raise tensions as denuclearization talks with the United States remain stalled."
It would be the first such launch since 2017.
CNN notes, Trump and Kim have held talks for the regime to denuclearize, but the negotiations seemed to lose momentum during a summit in Vietnam this year which ended early and without an agreement.
