In a setback to Lok Sabha Elections in Vellore, President Ram Nath Kovind cancelled polls in the constituency; on the recommendation of the Election Commission. The decision comes in wake of I-T raids that resulted in massive cash haul during I-T raids in the past weeks at the residence of DMK treasurer Duraimurugan's son Kathir Anand. Hours later, I-T sleuths raided the residence of Kanimozhi in Tuticorin, which later turned out to be a false tip off, after no cash/valuables was recovered from her house. DMK President MK Stalin was quick to retaliate; he accused the IT dept of working under pressure and getting instructions from the Modi govt as part of its vendetta politics. He further said that why had no I-T raid been conducted at BJP's Tamilisai Soundarajan, who allegedly has crores hoarded in her home.
