Kelley Swindall (pronounced swindle) was born and raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where she grew up listening to the music of Kris Kristofferson, Patsy Cline, and David Allen Coe on the way to church every Sunday morning, because that's what her daddy listened to. The rest of the week she listened to the Atlanta oldies station, Fox 97, because that's what her ride listened to. Jewel, Shawn Colvin, Meredith Brooks, and Lisa Loeb were her middle school jamz, and when she was old enough to drive herself, she added Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, Dylan, The Band, and Skynyrd to the mix. She's currently on a Townes Van Zandt kick. .
She moved to NYC to study Theater at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2006, acted Off-Broadway with The Amoralists Theater Company for a couple years, heard Amy Winehouse sing "Tears Dry on Their Own" , and began teaching herself guitar and writing songs not long after...
Drawing from her southern background, her style is a unique blend of soulful dark & bluesy folk coupled with a witty, gritty, old school country sensibility, inspired by the outlaw tradition, and deeply rooted in story songs and talking blues.
You can find her playing around NYC and killer spots across the Country.
