New York City Declares
Health Emergency
After Measles Outbreak More than 250 cases of
measles have been documented
since September 2018 in the Williamsburg area
of Brooklyn, New York. Unvaccinated individuals
are required to receive vaccinations
within the next 48 hours. Failure to do so may result
in a misdemeanor as well as
a possible $1,000 fine. Mayor Bill de Blasio said the
emergency was declared in
an attempt to stop the outbreak
from spreading further. Bill de Blasio, via ‘New York Times’ The city had been actively combating
the disease by excluding unvaccinated
children from schools and programs.
