Seoul's foreign affairs minister Kang Kyung-wha returned from the U.S. Sunday afternoon,... where she met with her American counterpart for the first time since the Hanoi summit.
Minister Kang said she and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo discussed the latest developments surrounding the Korean Peninsula and other bilateral issues, including the summit between the two countries' leaders,... coming up in less than two weeks.
The minister said she and Pompeo agreed that the priority now is for the U.S. and North Korea to resume their talks and that they will have to closely watch the North's next steps.
The two diplomats also reportedly discussed extending South Korea's exemption from the U.S. sanctions on Iran and the allies' sharing of defense costs.
