Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng, and Vientiane.
A trip I took: I started by flying from Vientiane (the capital) 50 minutes on a tiny propeller plane to Luang Prabang (2nd largest city).
In Luang Prabang I saw the city, biked the surrounding area (a totally different world from the actual city as the surrounding area is steeped in poverty in comparison), which is simple once you cross the Mekong River on this rickety barge and a trip to a magnificent waterfall.
-Following is a drive from Luang Prabang to Vang Vieng through mountainous scenery at times teetering on the dangerous side.
-In Vang Vieng (mostly a tourist town) it is the surroundings that are incredible with majestic mountains and relaxing lagoons with creepy but beautiful caves to explore along waterfalls that are possible to set your back against and have a nice massage.
Finally the ending is in the capital of Vientiane which was interesting but not worth more than a day.
- I was surprised on how developed Laos was! Enjoy!
