Today, March 26th, we commemorate independence fighter Ahn Jung-geun who was executed by Japanese colonial authorities on this day in 1910.
A ceremony has been held at the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall in central Seoul.... to mark the one-hundred-and-ninth anniversary of his death.
Some 500 people including the minister of patriots and veteran affairs and Ahn's family members attended the event.
Ahn was executed at the age of 30,... after he assassinated Hirobumi Ito,... the first Japanese resident-general posted to Korea in 1909,... during Tokyo's occupation of the country.
Ahn was shot at Harbin train station in China.... and this is where a memorial hall honoring Ahn is soon going reopen.
Ahn is also considered a hero in China as an activist against Japanese aggression.
