PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan on Monday said the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) would only be effective if a lawmaker from the Opposition fills in the post of chairman or deputy chairman.

On March 23rd, Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar confirmed she had resigned as a PAC member, a move believed to be in protest of the government’s decision to retain Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee as PAC chief although he is no longer in the Opposition.
