First, it produces red blood cells,Erythropoietin is a hormone formed in the kidney, it plays an important role in the production of red blood cells (RBCs). During kidney failure, the formation of erythropoietin decreases, which also reduces the formation of red blood cells, due to which cause anemia. This is the reason in patients with kidney failure are not able to form red blood cells even after being with iron and vitamins.
The second kidney function is it keeps the bones strong, Kidney transforms Vitamin D which is necessary for calcium ,to develop bones and teeth and keep bones healthy. During kidney failure, this vitamin D becomes less, bone is not properly developed and it also becomes weak.
The third kidney function is to filter the waste matereial out of the body as it is the most important function of the kidney to clean the blood by removing the waste matereial. The food we eat is also contains proteins. Protein is needed to develop and strengthen the body. But as the protein is used by the body, it produces waste matereial. The kidney filters the same waste matereial.
Fourth, kidney is to maintain the balance of the liquid by extracting extra amount of water in the form of urine while maintaining the amount of water in the body, which is essential for survival. After kidney failure, swelling swells from excessive amount of water in the body.
Fifth function is that kidneys produce different hormones such as renin, angiotensin, aldosterone, prostaglandin etc., which help in filtering water and salt in the body, in which it can play a role in controlling blood pressure. After kidney failure, the quantity of salt increases and the problem of blood pressure is also started.
Sixth, kidney maintain the balance of the minerels and chemicals in the body. Kidney plays another important role in balancing minerels and chemicals such as sodium, potassium, hydrogen, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and bicarbonate.
