President Trump again slammed former President Obama on Wednesday.
President Trump on Wednesday cited the recent release of the transcripts from the House Judiciary Committee's 2018 interview with former FBI attorney Lisa Page as an indication that the Obama administration Justice Department was a "corrupt machine." "The just revealed FBI Agent Lisa Page transcripts make the Obama Justice Department look exactly like it was, a broken and corrupt machine," Trump wrote in a tweet. "Hopefully, justice will finally be served. Much more to come!" Highlights from the documents included Page explaining what former FBI agent Peter Strzok meant when calling the early investigation into possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign an "insurance policy." "If he is not elected, then, to the extent that the Russians were colluding with members of his team, we're still going to investigate that even without him being President, because any time the Russians do anything with a US person, we care, and it's very serious to us," Page said. Page continued: "But if he becomes President, that totally changes the game because now he is the President of the United States…And if there is somebody on his team who wittingly or unwittingly is working with the Russians, that is super serious." She also commented on the disparaging comments she and Strzok made about Trump in text messages, noting: "Many of us in law enforcement dislike the subject of our investigations. We are not keen on pedophiles and fraudsters and spies and human traffickers. That is fine. What would be impermissible is to take that harsh language and to act in some way that was illegal or against the rules. And we don't do it."
