Farooq Abdullha Targets Modi Govt over Jammu and Kashmir Election . The politics over Election Commission's plan to not hold Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir got murkier with more and more political voices questioning the poll body over its decision. National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah, on Monday, questioned ECs decision and asked that if the environment in his state was conducive for Lok Sabha polls, then why not for the Assembly polls. He further said that the Balakot airstrike was conducted with an eye on elections. The EC, while announcing the General Election schedule on Sunday, said that the environment in Jammu and Kashmir was not conducive enough to conduct Assembly elections in the state.
