Jammu and Kashmir is all set to go to Lok Sabha Polls in 5 phases. In a first, terror hit district of South Kashmir, Anantnag alone will be going to polls in 3 phases. There will however, be no simultaneous state polls in Jammu and Kashmir. The opposition slammed the centre for not declaring assembly elections the state with national conference leader Omar Abdullah launching a sharp attack on the centre saying that this was akin to surrendering to Pakistan, militants and Hurriyat. Election commission said the situation in the state is not conducive for state polls to be conducted and that it was logistically unfeasible to conduct simultaneous state polls in the state.
