23 Killed in Alabama by
Devastating Tornado Outbreak Lee County, Alabama, was hit by
multiple tornados on March 3, 2019. 23 people have been killed,
with dozens more injured. The first tornado to rip through
the county was at least a half-mile wide
and categorized as an EF-3. It struck so suddenly that residents
only received a 20 minute warning. EF-3 storms have wind speeds
between 158-206 miles per hour. Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones, via USA Today First responders are still
searching for survivors and
the death toll is expected to rise. This is the nation’s deadliest
tornado outbreak since May 20, 2013.
