Protests and sloganeering by Jadavpur University Students notwithstanding, its Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das has maintained that the varsity would not file FIR against any student as it has always stood for Freedom of Expression, Freedom of Speech and Autonomy. Even as the Mamata Banerjee government has failed to take any action, the Governor has now stepped in seeking a detailed report from the V-C on the protests and the action taken against the Afal League.
